Assessment of Hearing for Audio Processing Disorders (APDs)Ā 

Even if they do not have hearing loss, some children may nevertheless have hearing difficulties. People of any age can take an APD test, which is administered by audiologists. What age is your child?Ā 

But most tests are designed for students seven years of age and older. As part of an APD test, your child may have to listen to a speech with background noise. You can ask your youngster to fill in the blanks on any missing words and to identify any differences in sound.Ā 

These behavioural assessments are referred to as pure-tone audiometry, dichotic speech task, and temporal gap detection.Ā 

Electroacoustic and electrophysiologic tests are carried out by audiologists using the appropriate equipment. It includes the following tests, which were suggested in a research on APD in school-age children:Ā

-Echoacoustic discharges Your child's diagnosis may require the services of additional medical specialists.Ā 

Since APD includes more than just hearing loss, cognitive ability is assessed by a psychologist. A speech-language pathologist evaluates oral and written language simultaneously. Your youngster needs treatment for auditory processing dysfunction.
